European Bicycle Route R1 From Boulogne-sur-Mer to St. Petersburg over a distance of more than 3500 kilometres it connects people, nature and culture in nine European countries. France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Russia are looking forward to welcoming you and your bicycle! With a total of more than 3,500 km the R1 crosses Germany from West to East. Most of the route is in the flatter parts of North Germany and only occasionally does it cross one or the other hill in the Harz mountain area. The route through Ferch and a nice tour around lake Schwielowsee are beautiful parts of the R1.
